He graduated in Biotechnology from the Faculty of Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University in Kraków in 2006, completing his MSc thesis on the expression and purification of the human stimulatory G-protein α subunit. In 2011, he obtained his PhD in Chemistry from the Faculty of Chemistry at Jagiellonian University. His doctoral research focused on the synthesis, characterisation, and photodynamic activity of novel semiconducting photocatalysts for biomedical applications.

His research interests include the synthesis of organic–inorganic hybrid nanomaterials based on nanocrystalline semiconductors, interactions between nanoparticles and biomolecules, and the effects of nanoparticle photoactivity on biological molecules. From 2017 to 2020, he led the SONATA 11 project “Mechanisms of toxicity and phototoxicity of photoactive oxide nanomaterials”. He is the author of 20 papers and book chapters (cited ca. 720 times, h = 13), as well as several patents and patent applications.
