Kasidid Yaemsunthorn is a chemist from northern Thailand whose research interests span materials chemistry, renewable energy, and nanotechnology. In 2009, he received a six-year scholarship through the Development and Promotion of Science and Technology Talents Project (DPST), supported by the Royal Thai Government’s Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST). In 2009, he received a six-year scholarship through the Development and Promotion of Science and Technology Talents Project (DPST), supported by the Royal Thai Government’s Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST). He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Chiang Mai University in 2013. That year, he also undertook a research visit to the School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews, where he worked on biomaterials synthesis under the supervision of Prof. John T. S. Irvine. He subsequently completed his master’s degree at Chiang Mai University in 2017 under the supervision of Dr Chamnan Randorn. Kasidid successfully defended his doctoral thesis at Jagiellonian University on 22 September 2023. His doctoral research was supported by the TEAM project funded by the Foundation for Polish Science.
His thesis, entitled “Phase-Dependent Photocatalytic Activity of TiO2 – the Role of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Factors,” investigated the photocatalytic performance of anatase and rutile in oxidation and reduction reactions. It examined how intrinsic material properties and extrinsic factors, including the reaction type and conditions, influence the relative photoactivity of the materials. His findings contributed to the understanding of phase-dependent TiO₂ photocatalysis and provided guidance on selecting and designing photocatalysts for specific reactions.
